We’ve got a new Featured Seller in the house… Welcome IMNS.

We’re excited to have him on board as a MOJO Themes seller. Just in the short time of getting to know him, he’s made great suggesstions on how to improve the marketplace for everyone.

We decided he was a great candidate and luckily he took the time to do a quick interview.

IMNS1. For starters, can you tell us all a little about yourself and why you do what you do?

I started learning Flash in the early 2000’s doing frame based animation, which is what originally sparked my interested in web design. A lot of my first websites were built entirely in Flash, which makes me cringe a little now-a-days.

Around 2004 I started a web design company and ran that for 3 years. It taught me a lot about what to expect from clients, how to manage my time properly and how being organized can make or break you.

Now, I am a plain old freelancer. I love setting my own hours and not having a boss. It also gives me the freedom to work on my side projects. In the last few years I’ve gotten into working with Django and building web apps, which is incredibly challenging and fulfilling all at once. I also went back to school and got my degree in Computer Science which taught me how to “really” code properly.

2. Are you just a one man show? Or is there a team of you?

It’s just me. I design and develop things myself. Although I would really love to bring in someone else for the design, so I can just focus on coding.

3. When it comes to coding or designing what’s the one thing drives you mad?

The list is probably too long to share here, but I’ll pick my most recent annoyance. I just downloaded an app I wanted to modify and after opening up a few files, it became clear the original developer loved whitespace. I’m talking at least 10 blank lines separating each line of code. It drove me crazy. I like things to be nice and tidy, with consistent indentation. Truthfully, I think coding in Python has probably made me this way, but really it makes sense to keep your code nice, clean and well documented.

4. What are the sites you have to visit everyday?

I am a huge social bookmarking junkie. I definitely visit Digg everyday and spend a lot of time browsing Y Combinator’s Hacker News too. Both sites really help you stay up-to-date with what’s going on in the web design industry and can tell you what trends to keep an eye on.

5. Where can people get in touch with you?

The best place is through the Web Design and Development blog I run, Box Model Junkie. I’m always happy to meet new people, especially anyone with an interest in Web Design.

Thanks again for interview!
