When we first rolled out version 2 of MOJO, we talked all about how we built this site right on top of WordPress. We thought that was pretty cool and we always had the intention of integrating BuddyPress with it. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out there so we had to go back to the drawing board.
Fast forward a few months and a few hat tips to the MOJO dev team, we actually managed to build our very own which we announced in June. Features were still limited but we wanted to roll out features like Following users, private messaging, etc. and we figured that would allow us time to roll out such a large custom build in various phases.
Over the last week or so, you may have noticed some major updates to it. If not, I wanted to make sure I highlighted these new features and our intentions behind it. Below I’ve tried to break down each major feature of MOJO social with fancy screenshots and all!
Follow MOJO Users
MOJO Social in its simplest form includes the ability to follow users or have users follow you.
Of course you’d expect it, but it also helps customize your activity stream to your liking as you start following more and more users.
Whether you’re a buyer wanting to follow the work of seller for their next theme release or you have fellow friends among the marketplace, you should give it a try and follow a new user! Start browsing through the marketplace and visit their profile page and click “Follow”. That’s it!
The Marketplace Activity Stream
As the marketplace continues to grow we realize it gets harder to keep tabs on what’s been happening lately. Now when you login to your account, you’ll land on your account dashboard and see the main activity stream.
Rather than a typical news feed from Twitter or Facebook where it shows only people you follow, you get to see what the entire marketplace is doing. Of course, if you don’t like this feature and would only like to be updated with a list of people you actually follow, you can update your account settings.
Site & Email Notifications
Now for both, Sellers & Buyers, you can make sure to keep track of what’s going on with your MOJO account.
As sellers, you of course receive emails regarding new comments on items but now your account notifies you in various ways through alert icons and your notifications. On top of that, you can choose to receive emails regarding new users that follow you, when someone sends you a private message, etc. Pretty nifty huh?
As Buyers, you are now notified when sellers push through updates on their items. Through your notifications, activity and email you can make sure you’re using the latest version of the item. This makes it easy to not have to keep track when items are updated and also ensures the best experience when using a theme from MOJO.
Private Messaging & Message Center
Along with all this you can now have private conversations with users throughout the marketplace. Messages are stored within your account so you can easily keep it separate and use it to pass along sensitive information or communicate about additional customization work.
Sending a message is easy too. You can simply send messages when you’re on any users profile or head on over to message center of your account. You can simply start typing in the username of who you’d like to message and it will start displaying the closest match.
