But I’m looking at your site and I’m not seeing any pages not coming up. It looks like you’ve got it all figured out? I see your homepage setup properly and I see other pages like this one that appear to be like a blog with a custom layout:

… Or at lease subpages with custom layouts, which would be the same thing from the perspective of the theme constructing the pages.

Just for the record, I had “front page displays” selected as “your latest posts”.

I built my Homepage as a custom layout in Builder. Then I have the Homepage in a custom menu, where the URL is just directed http://charlespeckmusic.com

I think this may be not the most efficient way to do this and is probably causing the problem. What do you think?

Just go to Settings > Reading > Frontpage displays, and where you selected a “posts page”, just change it so no page is selected.

I did run into another issue though. I have been trying to set up a blog page, so used the builder to set up a layout and designed a page, titled blog, to showcase everything. Everything looks good as a draft, but when I publish it, I am instead linked to a more or less blank page that says Parent Directory and cgi/bin if I recall correctly.

I think I have decided that there must be some issues with a preset blog page. The draft works because the page has a different title, but when I publish it, the page is just called blog, which causes confusion. Does this sound right? Any suggestions on how to correct the problem?

1) This is going be the reality of embedding these videos from YouTube. It’s always going to be slow to load, and it’s sort of out of your control. Another approach might be to have images in the slider that link to lightbox popups of the YouTube videos? This way the sliders and overall page will come up much faster, although that might be less appealing to the user that has to click through to the lightbox popup for each video.

2) We’re just using the third-party ligthbox plugin prettyPhoto. It’s probably the most popular open-sourced lightbox plugin out there.

I think some of the confusion here might be that you’re using WordPress 3.4. You’ll defintely want to make sure you’re using the latest version of WordPress. How to manage media and galleries when editing pages and posts was onen of the biggest new features of 3.5; it’s now so much easier to create multiple galleries in a post. Before (with what you’re working with), you actually had to manually put in ID’s of attachments if you wanted there to be separate galleries. — i.e. [gallery ids="1, 2, 3, 4"]

So, assuming you update to the latest version of WordPress, which you should always be doing. –

1) You can put as many as you want in a post. Here’s a good video on how this works in WP 3.5+: http://wordpress.tv/2013/03/12/how-to-create-an-image-gallery-in-wordpress/

Note: There’s currently a bug in WordPress 3.5.1 that doesn’t respect when you select for the gallery to link to “file” when inserting it. This is necesarry for the theme to link the images to lightbox popups. So after you insert the gallery, if you want the images to link to lightbox popups, you need to switch to “Text” mode in the editor and change [gallery ids="1,2,3"] to [gallery ids="1,2,3" link="file"].

2) Apologies, but there is no feature for this. You’d need to edit the titles and captions accordingly, knowing where they’re going to show up.

I have a portfolio type page on my website in which I have used the sliders to display my work. Right now, I have 6 individual one page sliders. I like the look of it, but it is a bit slow to load. Any suggestions? The link is here – http://charlespeckmusic.com/music/

My second comment is about the expanded lightbox setup. It seems strange to have the close button in the bottom right corner while the expand button is in the top right corner. It is typically the opposite in most other programs. It has thrown me off a few times and I figured I would mention it.

First, is there a way to have two galleries in one post? I would like to say a few things, then show some pictures. Then say a few more things and show some pictures.

Also, as it is, I have three columns of pictures showing up with the captions displaying underneath the thumbnail, then the title appears when the picture expands to the light box. I would like to reverse this, such that you see the title under the thumbnail and you can read the caption in the lightbox.
